Technical Information: Suggested System Requirements
Hardware
- Any PC or Macintosh computer with a color monitor and internet connection. Audio speakers recommended for Music pages.
- Minimum 1024 x 768 screen resolution recommended.
- There are many 1MB+ size files on this site, a broadband connection will greatly enhance your experience of this site.
Browser Software
- FireFox 2.0 and higher (or equivalent Mozilla browser).
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or higher. Go to Microsoft Internet Explorer download page to update your browser software.
- Safari 2.0 and higher
Browser Plugins
- Adobe Flash Player required for many pages, version 9 required for some features. Go to the Adobe Flash download page.
Security Issues
- This site uses pop-up windows extensively. If you use a pop-up blocker you may need to add this site to your list of safe sites. When using Safari, you must turn off "Block Pop-up Windows" from the Safari menu to enable pop-up windows linked from within Flash files such as the Timeline or Historic Scenes.
- This site works best with Javascript enabled.
Printing Tips
- Please note that printing web pages is highly subject to the user's particular computer and software configuration.
- To print the complete text of a Historic Scene page, follow the link at the bottom of the page that says "Printable text of this scene." To print entire scene pages, set your paper to Landscape Orientation. Note: some browser/printer combinations will not print the Flash files.
