Upon their arrest, Job Shattuck, Oliver Parker and Benjamin Page of Groton, Massachusetts, were sent to the Suffolk County jail in Boston. They would have normally been held in the jail in Concord, as they all lived in Middlesex County, but the Governor and Sheriffs wanted to hold them away from any sympathizers. To further ensure that the men did not have contact with people who might be sympathetic, the Governor ordered the Sheriff to keep the men from having writing implements or visitors. Job Shattuck especially suffered from this close confinement as he had been severely wounded during his capture.
