Glorious Revolution

The English Revolution of 1688, in which James II lost the crown to William of Orange, who subsequently reigned over England jointly with his wife, Mary. A direct consequence of the revolution was the Declaration of Rights of 1689 that increased the power and authority of the English Parliament and required that all future English monarchs be of the Protestant faith.
