Throughout the winter and spring of 1787, Massachusetts men who had taken up arms against the government, surrendered their weapons and took an oath of allegiance to the state of Massachusetts. In this document, David Hoyt, Jr., of Deerfield records that he received 11 confiscated weapons and that a receipt was issued to Titus King of Northampton, who had originally collected them.
