4 Monday-cool towards night snowed-John
Bardwel marched 40 men with him- and
several more followed.

5 Tuesday- a very severe snow storm- snow
fell about knee Deep and drifted

6 Wednesday- Broke Paths- towards Night
orders came from Genl Sheperd for the Militia
to be in readiness to march tomorrow to Worcester

7 Thursday- CaptStebbins called his Company together
at Col Dwights-but major mattoon returned
from Brookfield & said that Genl Warner advised
not to march then, as the Court had met at
Worcester, & adjourned to the 23d of Jany-Our
Militia seemed eager to go-I made a speech to
them persuading them to be quiet & rest the Matter
with Govr & Rulers?

8 Fryday- we hear that Genl Shays, as he’s called,
has took possession of Worcester, gives out com-
missions to his officers, has 1800 Men and
has taken Judge Ward Judge ?ker and Judge
Lincoln Prisoners by the way of Reprisal for those
which the Light Horse took- killed Hors(?)

9 saturday a very tedious snow storm windy &c.

10 DD. the Roads very much drifted in many
Places cleard off, cold met & had sermon at
Dr Scotts & slays frm upper End of the Town
but few frm Turkey hill only Giles Lyman and
Darius Root below my House- Giles said he
came thro drifts of snow higher than his Horses
Back- heard that our Mobbers, Bard-
well & his Company got Home, saturday
Night, yt Bardwell said they had petitioned
the Govr to release those three Heads of the
Mobb wherever taken -& if he did not release
them they should go again soon.

11. Monday at Home- my wife went to Gates.
Succeeded? to Grocers?- weather very severe
