Clemency Petition from Jason Parmenter

To his Excellency James Bowdoin Esqr the Honble the
Council of the Commonwealth
most humbly shews --

Jason Parmenter that your Petitioner is now confined
in the Gaol in Nothampton in the County of Hampshire
under Sentence of Death for the Crime of High Treason and
is informed that the twenty fourth Day of the present Month
is appointed for his Execution, your Petitioner with the most
painful and distressing Apprehensions begs leave humbly
to solicit your Excellency and Honours Attention to his Case
he has a Wife and a family of Nine Children, he himself
served as a Soldier the three first yearsof the late War and
had one Son Killed in Battle by a Cannon Ball while
fighting for his Country -- Your Petitioner thinks his Character
has been good untill this late Rebellion in which he
unfortunately took a Part for which he is overwhelmed
with Grief and Contrition -------------------
Your Petitioner begs Leave humbly to request the Mercy
of your Honours and the Government and that his
Crime may be pardoned, but it so graet a Favour cannot
be granted him he earnestly prays that his Execution
may be delayed one Month longer than the time now
fixed upon for that Purpose --
And as in Duty bound shall pray
