Jason Parmenter of Bernardston, was sentenced to death for his part in Shays' Rebellion. A month after his death sentence, he petitioned Governor Bowdoin for a pardon. He pleads that he has a wife and nine children, fought during the first three years of the Revolution, and had a son killed in battle. Parmenter states that he is "overwhelmed with Grief and Contrition" over his participation at Springfield. If a pardon isn't granted, Parmenter asks that his execution be delayed for a month.
