Veteran's Pension Petition to Congress from Daniel Shays

and Expensive Family dependent on his Care and Support;
that, for the Reasons before Expressed, your Petitioner, hath
been reduced to a State of Poverty, is utterly unable
to acquire a Subsistence by Labor, and hath no means
to Support his Family; he therefore hath never received
the five Years Pay, which hath been usually allowed
to other Officers in the Same Condition who continued in the Service; and therefore
Most humbly pray that he may be relieved from
his present unhappy Situation, Wither by being placed
on the Pension List, or by having a Grant of the
------ five years pay, which to others for Similar
Service hath been usually granted as in your
Wisdom you Shall Judge fit to be done
